News Flash- We just got a text from Michael. He made it to the airport a whole hour before the plane took off. He sends his deep appreciation to all, and especially Mary and Steve, who helped with the giving out of water at the Oatmeal Festival. Best wishes to him and Cheri for a wonderful vacation.
A Word from Mary and Steve Stevens-We want to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the Water at the Oatmeal Festival. Jim Dyke, Joe Urias, Ben and Jo Ann Thomas helped us set up at 6:30. By 7, there were more helpers. In addition others were standing by to help but were not needed. And we had the pleasure of watching Michael and his daughter Allison in the Fun Run. It was great
Sunday was a great day as we celebrated the installation of Sherry Musgrove as the newest Daughter of the King. Thanks to all who made it so special for her.
Tuesday, September 9 is our day to furnish lunch for the Alzheimers Respite Group at the Methodist Church. Thanks to Joyce Juhnke for making the main dish, Ginny Little for doing the salad and bread, and Patty Murray for making the dessert. If you would like to help, please let me (Sandy) know. Many hands make light work.
Hope you got to visit with, or meet, Chloe and Reed Lewis and Cissie and CadenWalker, our visitors. We might add, neat ladies and young men.
Please come Sunday and worship with Fr. Ben Long, our Supply Priest. You will enjoy him. Let's not let our attendance slip while Michael is on vacation.
Don't forget this coming Friday and Saturday, the 5th and 6th, is Our Church Rummage Sale. Bring your "treasures" and buy new ones.
There will be NO choir practice this week, but Elizabeth will be there at 9:45 Sunday morning.
Some money was found in the church last Sunday. If you are missing any, please contact Dianne Ragland.
Ultreya will be on Sunday, September 14 from 4-6 P.M. in the Parish Hall. For more information, contact Patty Murray.
Those scheduled to serve next Sunday(7th) are: Layreaders--8:00-Gary Hardy &
10:30-Rufus & Sandy Arrington; Ushers--John& Sharlot Campbell.
Charlie Clayton feel last week and cracked his hip. He was taken to San Antonio
for evaluation.
Our deepest sympathy goes our to the Brunson family with the death of Doug's father.
Trust Michael with all that was on his mind to leave us something special. He closed his sermon last Sunday with these words:
"May we find our lives by becoming compassionate and seeking to understand those who seem to be so different from ourselves. May we look beyond our selfish, at least immediate, concerns to the boundless love and grace of God embodied in the person of Jesus Christ and woven into our nature as creatures made in the image of God. And may we give thanks to God who alone can help us to live not for ourselves but for him who died and rose again as we find him in those we encounter in our life's journey."
Thanks Michael, and you and Cheri have a beautiful time.
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
