THE EPIPHANY E-STAR – September 14, 2023

From Father Michael:

This Sunday we will extend a warm Epiphany welcome to Ashley Harper-Oberle who will serve with us as Student Intern from the Iona School for Ministry. She, as Steven Tomlinson before her, is in the Priest Formation Track, meaning that she looks forward, God willing, to ordination as a Deacon next year and some months later as a Priest.

Ashley is a longtime member of Trinity Church, Marble Falls, and is in her final year in the Iona program. All students have two years of field work ministry; last year she served at the Church of the Resurrection in Austin. She is a Licensed Spiritual Director and has been an Education for Ministry (EFM) Mentor since 2016. As a mentor she helps to recruit and enroll new students from all faiths. EFM is a ministry of the University of the South (Sewanee); Epiphany had an active class some years ago. She served as Child Care Facilitator for Trinity, Marble Falls, from 2017 to 2021. There is much more to her rich and varied background, but this should give you a brief introduction.

It is an honor and privilege for Epiphany to have been selected once again to be part of Iona’s formation process.

In that regard, we saw the fruits of that process when we welcomed back our former Iona School for Ministry Intern, now Deacon, Steven Tomlinson last Sunday and to hear another of his excellent sermons. What a blessing!

Renovations Updates:   DC Restoration will be here next week to start cleaning the ductwork in the Parish Hall.  Countertops should be installed on the 20th of September. We have ordered a new microwave for the Parish Hall.  It should be in next week.  The Youth Center will also be ordering a small microwave.

RUMMAGE SALE:  Thanks to all who participated in the Epiphany Rummage Sale!! Your donations were appreciated and to all who volunteered their time, muscles, and energy, the sale could not have happened without you!  Our final total was close to $3,000.  This allows us to give back to the Burnet community and to help the church as needed.  It was a busy week, but well worth it!

We pray for those traveling this week, especially Diane Hays, Sherry Musgrove, and Jane Scheidler.

We pray for all who have died, especially Dave Pingleton, Matthew Major and Mary Lynn Suman, that they may have a place in your eternal kingdom. We pray also for all who mourn their passing.

LACare has been having larger number of families coming for assistance over the last few months.  They have a couple of volunteer shifts available if you are interested in volunteering.  Also, the food pantry needs canned meats (tuna, chicken) and canned fruit, preferably peaches.

Please continue to pray for all in need of comfort, healing, and support. We are all God’s children and are called to serve Him in any way we can.
