Whew, it is getting to be more like summer every day, hot and dry. Sure hope those "weather gurus" are halfway correct with the wet forecasts for the end of the week.
Ramsey and Emmy were at church Sunday. He is getting around quite well. Bob Gordy is coming along slower than he wants. Charlie Clayton is at home receiving a special drip medication from nurse Rachael. We had a nice visit with John and Lue Mather Sunday afternoon. Lue was having a joyous "pain free" day, and John was elated to read that all those fat things- lard, Crisco, butter. real ice cream, etc. are not so bad for you. Keep all in your prayers, especially all of the caregivers.
Our church-visitor Sunday was Connie Evans, who use to go to Epiphany. It was neat to visit with her. Hope you got to meet her.
The Highland Lakes Pregnancy Center is opening a new site in Marble Falls.
They desperately need volunteers. For more information call Dolores Bacon-Whatley at 325-388-0354.
NO COVER DISH THIS SUNDAY THE 11TH-----
Rogation Sunday is May 18th at the Nelly's. They will furnish the meat, water, ice tea, and ice. We should bring picnic sides and dessert, "make-um" finger food, easy to eat.. Don't forget your Lawn Chairs and Sun Hats. And do not forget dirt and water from your place to be blessed.
Those scheduled to serve this Sunday, the 11th, are: Layreaders-8:00-Gary Hardy, 10:30-Mary and John Erskine--Ushers: Ramsey and Emmy Clinton-Crucifer-Carrie Guthrie.
In his sermon Sunday Michael quoted from the third-step prayer of AA: then said,"it's that line--'relieve me of the bondage of self '--which strikes me as pertinent to the story of Luke's gospel. By God's grace those two men have been relieved of their grief and allowed to see the messiah for whom they had hoped sitting at the table with them. Their focus was shifted from the notion of what God should do and how he should do it to the reality of the crucified Christ, now risen from the grave, seated with them at the table". Thank you Michael.
For those interested, on the bulletin board outside the office take a look at Caravaggio's painting entitled "Supper at Emmaus". Thank you Dolores Urias.
Have a blessed week, and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY,
Rufus and Sandy
