Sunday was Child Abuse Awareness Sunday—Thank you for your Prayers and Special Offering. The Vestry voted to designate the loose (plate) offering to go to Hill Country Advocacy. If you desire to give more, put it in an envelope marked such and it will be added to the $206 collected. The Daughters of the King also voted to make an additional donation. Thank you All. From the Senior Warden:
"Dear Church Family,
When the Vestry met with Cannon Saylors earlier this year, she spoke (among other things) of the need for transparency and being adaptable. The Vestry is doing a great job keeping everyone informed and I know we can be adaptable! In April the Vestry voted to split the proceeds from the Gumbo Luncheon equally between four Outreach Programs, Community Kitchen, LA Care, Alzheimer’s Respite, and Boys and Girls Club. I feel sure these programs will benefit greatly from our efforts. We will be presenting checks soon to these fine organizations! As you all know, we have had many changes this year – and it's only May! Bill Drake, treasurer, reported to the Vestry in February that our pledges are down. I feel that now is the time to address this situation instead of it sneaking up on us at the end of the year and ending with a deficit budget. The Budget Committee will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to re-asses the pledges and expenses for 2019. The Budget Committee will present their findings to the Vestry Meeting on May 23, 2019. And we will keep you informed of the findings. As always, everyone is invited to attend the Vestry Meetings. Please keep the Budget Committee and the Vestry in your prayers. Lord, guide us to be financially responsible and socially compassionate.
Amen.
Deborah”

From Michael's Sermon: "When Thomas shows up late and says, “Oh yeah? Well, I don’t believe it” (just as most of us would), Jesus comes to do it all over again. For Thomas and for all of us, Jesus again shows up to say and to demonstrate that this is the first moment of our new life, that he can transcend all manner of trying to lock ourselves up, lock ourselves in. He stands against everything that threatens us in order to stand with us, right where we are. And we rejoice as he says, “Peace. I’m sending you out to show the world what love is when it’s out and about and walking in this world. And I’m giving you the Holy Spirit to help you do that.”
Have a Blessed Week
