From Linda Myers, Senior Warden:
"Dear Epiphany Friends… I just wanted to say again how much your three delegates (Rachel Bryson, Ryan Guthrie and Linda Myers) mutually enjoyed their experience of attending the 172nd Diocesan Council by Zoom on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. (Information about the Council can be found on https://www.epicenter.org/ )
We were all in the parish hall safely socially distanced from one another with our computers set up on separate tables for the virtual experience.—It was overwhelmingly positive. The technology worked amazingly well. The Diocese did an outstanding job of coordinating all of the features of a regular council from its opening with Morning Prayer through all of the features of a standard Council including multiple reports, introduction of new clergy, regional bishops’ reports and casting of ballots to elect new members of the Standing Committee, the Executive Board, new Trustee, and new Trustee of the University of the South.
There were many heartfelt greetings shared wishing our Diocese well including greetings from the Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Michael Curry and the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby, as well as other bishops from around Texas. Music was included which was delightful and varied.
So much information was shared, but bottom line… our diocese is in good shape, financially and spiritually. It has been an incredibly difficult year, but as Bishop Doyle said, in the hardest of times we achieve. The Diocese remains debt free and because of careful asset management we are in good position to meet the demands of 2021.
Much was shared about the various ministries going on in the Diocese. With COVID the needs have been great and our diocese has responded- with a significant amount of the outreach being done by small parishes. St. Vincent’s House in Galveston was recognized for its contributions particularly in COVID vaccination efforts and it was the charity designee for the 172nd Council.
The Bishop’s address was insightful and candid. I strongly encourage you to read the summary of his address on the Diocesan website under the Council Highlights. He shared that he will take a sabbatical from June 1 to October 15 as he completes his 13th year as bishop. As he closed, Bishop Doyle encouraged us to:
• Find people during this time of trial and recognize our limits
• Remember to forgive ourselves and rest and when ready, step into the world again
• Forgive others and reach deep into our levels of resilience.
• Remember to hope and see the work of God’s hands
• Know that when we are alone, we are not alone
It was announced that: 173rd Diocesan Council will be Feb. 25/26 2022 in the Woodlands.
174th Diocesan Council will be Feb. 24/25 2023 in Galves
Based on the success of this virtual Diocesan Council, we would hope that might also be a possibility!
If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact any of your delegates."
Blessings and Love,
Linda Myers, Sr. Warden

During Lend, please join us via Zoom each Wednesday at 6:00 pm (including Holy Week) for our Lenten Program. Each session will be 30-45 minutes. We will be reading Anne Lamoth's Help, Thanks, Wow. It is available, used or new, from various online and brick-and-mortar stores.
We also hope you will join us each Sunday for Bible Study at 9:45am via Zoom. The Bible Study is focusing on Genesis.
I talked with Patty Murray on Wednesday. She was sent to Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls after her surgery. She is expected to be released on Friday, March 5. Please continue to keep her in your prayers for a full recovery.
If you have any old shoes that you'd like to get rid of, please bring them to the church office by March 25. Bill Drake and the Burnet High School Interact Club are collecting them for Soles$Souls, a charity that collects new and used shoes (they repair them) and redistributes them to those in need. Epiphany's own Nancy Heuss has also been doing this for several years at Looking Good Salon, and she is doing it again this year (Thanks, Nancy).
Attendance for Sunday, February 28, 2021:
Jim and Carol Weathers are scheduled to read the lessons and prayers for Sunday, March 7.
Happy Birthday to: Georgie Nolan (3.7), Carol Winter (3.8) and Grady Gonzales (3/11).
Peach and Blessings,
Dianne Williams
