Sunday was our first Celebration Pot Luck honoring all those with March birthdays. Many people worked hard to make it the wonderful time it was. Thanks to all; but a very special thank-you to Mae Wright for coming up with the idea and getting it together. The names of all those with March birthdays were read at church; and in addition to birthday cakes, there was a birthday card for each one. It was very special for those honored; but it was just as meaningful for the rest of us. It was one more example of the love that our Epiphany family has for each other.
It has been so good to have Maryanne Gordy back with us the last two Sundays. It has also been good to have David and Sarah Allen McGinty. It was great to see Steve Stevens ushering and looking very dapper with his cane.
Yesterday was the graveside service for Lue Mather. It was a beautiful day and John was joined by his son Rob, Lue's sons Matt and Mark, along with other family members and friends. There too were many folks from Epiphany including Michael. It was very meaningful.
TONIGHT will be the last Lenten Supper. We will continue looking at the catechism. Michael in his sermon last Sunday said, "During this Lent we've been reading over and discussing some of our most specific Episcopal love--what we believe and how we practice that belief--via our Catechism. I've really loved doing that, because it has shown us that these ancient beliefs and practices speak to us today, that they can be bearers of the love of the One God, now, in the 21st century." How true. Thanks Michael.
Vestry will meet right afterwards, Tonight..
Next Sunday will be Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. We will gather in the east parking lot and process to the church. If you would rather not process, please wait in the church. The choir will be singing, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" for the offertory.
Attendance last Sunday was 38. . The collection was $5,285.
Servers this week will be David Leitch and Rachel Bryson. Ushers will be Diane Hayes, Sherry Musgrove, and Cecile Gloier. Vestry Person of the Day will be Sherry Musgrove.
Back to Michael's sermon, at one point he said, "yes, we're about to participate in these catholic (or Anglican/Episcopal) liturgies with our usual gusto. We will enter into them beginning with a procession, bearing palm branches. Then we'll walk through the last days and hours of Jesus' earthly life, including his death. Then, and only then, we will celebrate with joy and praise his glorious resurrection." Thanks again Michael.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe Every Diem,
Rufus and Sandy
