We were small in number last Sunday, but the love and caring we were able to express to Ellie and Claude on the death of their young great niece was great. The readings were both about children who were miraculously saved, and Michael's sermon was also about their loved one who was not saved.
Which brings us to something else. We have seen ourselves as reporters only of what is happening at Epiphany; but there comes a time when we have to say what is in our hearts. Yes, we are disappointed that the attendance is not what it once was; but we believe we need to concentrate on the good things that are happening because of Epiphany. First, personally, we don't have much blood family except for Kevin and Patrick and their beautiful ladies. So, in a very real way, you are our family. You have been there for us over and over again. You have been there for others as well. Sitting back in the choir one sees this.
Then we have seen the difference Epiphany makes in the community with our participation in LACare, Community Kitchen, Alzheimer"s Respite Group and many other things that we do. Truly, God is in this place.
We also are very grateful that God sent Michael and Dianne to us. They care so much, and that makes us want to care more too.
Now, back to reporting:
For the rest of the summer the offertories will be hymns. The choir hopes that the congregation will join with them in singing. It is good to have a prepared offertory that the choir has worked on; but it is also good to have us all singing together.
This Wednesday, the stitchers of the Needlework Guild will meet to work on thekneelers.
Vestry will meet this Thursday at 6:30, June 9th.
The Church Picnic will be this Sunday. Please remember to bring salads or sides to go with the hamburgers and hot dogs the Drakes will be furnishing. Desserts will be birthday cakes honoring those celebrating birthdays in June-Steve Stevens, Billie Wheeler, Tom Langley, Sherry Musgrove, Collette Boyd, Jim Dyke, Kylei Degeyter, June Adams, Joe Ann Waldeck, and Michael Long. Also, bring lawn chairs and a sample of soil and water from your home. We will also be celebrating Rogation Sunday.

A big Thank You to Jo Lipscombe, Carol Hervey, and Sandy Arrington for furnishing the lunch for the Alzheimer's Respite Group on June 14. If anyone would like to participate in this ministry, please contact Sandy Arrington.
Michael will be on vacation, June 19 and 26 and will be out of the office June 16, June 23, and June 30 for a well deserved vacation.
Attendance last Sunday was 23. Collection was $1.906.
Sunday, the Lector will be John Erskine. Eucharistic Minister will be Mary Erskine. Ushers will be Bill Drake and Mark Milanovich. Vestry Person of the Day will be Mary Erskine. Remember, Michael would like for us to Stand for the reading of the Collect.
From Michael's Sermon: " Our challenge today in light of the readings is to reflect on those times when life has brought us low and God saved us from that, sometimes saved us from ourselves, and brought us up from the dead and back to the land of the living. Then we, with the psalmist, can say, ' Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing: Oh Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever'. "
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
