To begin with, Thank You to ALL who put together the Luncheon following Bob Gordy's Memorial Service. And Michael, with the help of Diane Hays, that was a truly intimate special service. It was so special, not only for FAMILY, but for friends----Thank you....
And while we are on the,Thank Yous", thanks to all who provided the FOOD for the
Tuesday Alzheimers Respite Group at the Methodist Church . Phyllis McNelly and Joyce Juhnke have been doing this for some time along with others we don't even know about. Beginning next month, Epiphany is going to be responsible for the second Tuesday. One person is needed to prepare a main dish, one bread and salad, and one dessert for 20 people. The good ladies of the Methodist Church provide a weekly special time for those afflicted with Alzheimers or other dementia while also giving a much needed break for their caregivers. Both of our mothers suffered from Alzheimers so this especially touches us. If you would be interested in helping from time to time, please contact me, Sandy Arrington.
There will be a WORSHIP ARTS CAMP at the First Christian Church Aug. 4 through August 8 from 5:30 P.M.-8:00 P.M. For more information call their church office at 512-756-2223.
Please mark your calendar for Sunday, August 17. Jeannie Loving, our missionary, will be with us; and we will have our regular covered dish lunch on that date. Since there will be only the one service, it will be a wonderful time for the whole Epiphany Family to be together and visit.
Ultreya will be at Epiphany on August 17th in the afternoon. Jeannie Loving will be the speaker. Any questions contact Patty Murray.
THE RUMMAGE SALE IS COMING----Sept. 5 & 6th---Let's Pitch In----
Those scheduled to serve this Sunday, Aug. 3rd., are...Layreaders:8:00-Gary Hardy-10:30-Rufus & Sandy Arrinton-, Ushers-Mary & Steve Stevens. Thank you.
We weren't here Sunday to hear it, but we just read Michael's sermon. Once again, he said exactly what Rufus and Sandy, at least, needed to hear. He closed it by saying:
"When we are full of pride in our own accomplishments and abilities and knowledge, we are not teachable. When we think we know it all, we leave no room for the Spirit, the Kingdom of God, to grow within us.
When we admit, along with Solomon and Paul, that our understanding is partial at best, we invite the Spirit to enter our hearts, our lives, our prayers; and God, who is gracious and merciful, accepts our invitation and takes hold of us and uses us to accomplish that which only God can do, making us participants in God's kingdom which knows no bounds." Thanks, Michael.
Have a Blessed Week.....Carpe every Diem,
Rufus and Sandy
