We are so thankful that Father Michael is feeling so much better and back in the pulpit! Many of you requested a copy of the poem he read last Sunday. The following is taken directly from the webzine “Journey with Jesus.”
Teresa of Avila (1515–1582) Christ Has No Body Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world, Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, Yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours, Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours. Born in Spain, Teresa entered a Carmelite convent when she was eighteen, and later earned a reputation as a mystic, reformer, and writer who experienced divine visions. She founded a convent, and wrote the book The Way of Perfection for her nuns. Other important books by her include her Autobiography and The Interior Castle.
Renovations continue to happen in the Parish Hall. Carpeting installed. Cabinets in the PH kitchen are being selected. Those will take 4-6 weeks to build and then installation (target date is first week in August). Painting of the PH rooms (various rooms, bathroom, and the custodial closet in the administration building) will be completed by the first week in August. We will begin to look at countertops for the PH kitchen soon. Our goal is to have the Parish Hall completed by Labor Day. That’s a tight schedule, but attainable!
Bids for painting the Youth Center are being collected. The contractor will be selected in the very near future. We now have hot and cold running water in the YC!
The sink in the ladies’ restroom across from Michael’s office has been replaced.
The restoration committee is pursuing estimates to clean the ductwork in the Nave. We need a couple more bids for this. Progress continues!

Please continue to pray for all in need of comfort, healing, and support. We are all God’s children and are called to serve Him in any way we can.
Please also continue to welcome visitors to Epiphany!
A message from Rufus Arrington: For several years I have been writing the E-Star. It really has been my pleasure, and I have enjoyed doing it. Now it is time for me to pass the ‘pen’ to Janet Wilton, our church administrator. She is very capable and will do a great job for us. Now is where YOU come in. You have got to communicate with her … keep her informed. We are not moving or leaving Epiphany. Change is GOOD for all.
Rufus Arrington “your former epiphany crier”
From Michael: My heartfelt thanks to Rufus (and before that, to Sandy and Rufus) for years of editing the E-Star and keeping everyone informed of parish goings-on and more. And doing that with great goodwill and humor. It’s no surprise that these two hardworking, faithful people were just named LA Care Volunteers of the Year. Congratulations for that well-deserved recognition.
Thank you, Rufus, for your kind words…I hope I will measure up to your standards set for the E-Star!
