Some words from Michael:
" It is no wonder that Mary has occupied such an exalted place in Christian belief and worship. The word which gives its name to this canticle appears in it twice: 'My soul doth magnify the Lord' and, a bit later, ' For he that is mighty hath magnified me'.
In Rite II the words are rendered differently, and perhaps more understandably to twenty-first-century ears: 'My soul proclaims the
greatness of the Lord' and 'the Almighty has done great things for me'.
In these words--either version, or in Latin, Greek, or any other language--Mary tells out the essential fact and challenge of the
Incarnation: We are called to magnify, proclaim the greatness of, God, and like Mary, we are called to do that by our obedience, our
behavior in the world and relationship with those around us. Because God has lifted us up from our lowly and humble state as creatures
by living out a life as one of us. God has shown us the endless possibilities of divine love made manifest in human expression. May we
do so faithfully."
Have a Blessed Week,
Carpe every Diem'
