August 17, 2016When we arrived home from West Texas yesterday, we found this message from Ellie Burks on our computer from Ellie. She said,' I just received the sad news that La Rue Miller passed away today. She was a dear friend and a faithful sister in our Epiphany family for many years. God bless her soul as she is now free of her pain and in heaven with her husband, Billy whom she loved dearly". Thank you Ellie for letting us know.
On a brighter note, Diane Hays is home from the hospital after her bout with blood clots. Great news!
Things to remember:
Thursday, August 18-Vestry meeting at 6:30. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend.
Sunday, August 27 is Daughters of the King meeting after church.
Friday and Saturday, September 16-17 is St. Anne's Annual Rummage sale. Remember what you don't need may be just the thing another person needs. There are two storage buildings available for your things. Keys are in the church office.
Attendance last Sunday was 42. Collection was $3,138.
Looking Ahead: The 58th Diocesan Adult Choral Festival will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church 4900 Jackson, Houston, Texas, 77096 on October 22-23, 2016. The Rev. Dr. William B. Roberts, from Virginia Theological Seminary will be the Festival Conductor. If you would like to sing in the festival or attend, please call the church office for more information.
This coming Sunday, Eucharistic Minister will be Jim Dyke. Lector will be Linda Dyke. A big thank you to both as we were scheduled to serve but have Grandparent duty in Pflugerville (at least as of this writing). Ushers will be Claude and Ellie Burks.Vestry Person of the Day will be Joe Urias.
Michael's sermon spoke so clearly to us. It had been hard saying good-by to Alice and seeing Michael so worn and haggard. We could not have made it without your love and prayers-the cloud of witnesses Michael talked about in his sermon. We wanted you to know. Thanks Michael-and all of you.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe Every Diem,
Rufus and Sandy
