Sunday was a special day filled with surprises and celebrations. Ginny Little was here. It was so good to see her. She misses us terribly but is doing well adjusting to her Independent Living in Temple. Also, it has been such a blessing to have Maryanne Gordy able to be with us. While none of our birthday honorees were able to be with us, it was a great joy watching all of us laughing and enjoying being with each other while eating a great meal. A good time was had by all.
There was a special blessing and anointing of the fingers of all the stitchers who have undertaken the creating of the new kneelers. This commitment will take Dolores Urias, Phyllis McNelly, Karen Leitch, Bobbie Clear, Ellie Burks, Carol Weathers, Mary Stevens,Linda Dyke, and Rachel Bryson. untold hours to complete; and the church is grateful.
For Your Prayerful Thought--Addison Drake will be graduating high school this spring. May will be her LAST month to serve as head acolyte. SO, we need an acolyte/crucifer----if interested, contact Fr. Michael, the office, or us. This is a commitment not to be taken without prayerful thought and consiideration
Thank You.
Bobbie Clear will soon be making the new usher list. We are in need of new teams. Please prayerfully consider if this is something you can do; and if so, let her know byMay 15. It could be a couple, two ladies or two men. If one of you can commit to this, we will try to find a partner for you. Thank you and thank you Bobbie.
Choir will meet this Wednesday at 5:45 P.M.
Men's Breakfast will meet this Saturday. Rufus will do the cooking.
Daughters of the King will meet next Sunday after church. If any of you ladies have ever thought about becoming a Daughter or would like to know more about it, please join us. In the past people have thought one had to be invited to join. This is definitely not so.
Our May Covered Dish Celebration Lunch will be May 8th. All those with May birthdays will be honored, and they don't bring a dish.
Also May 8 will be our spring in gathering of UTO.. We have so much to be thankful for-the little things like the wildflowers (well, maybe not so little after all) to the big things like our families and our Epiphany Church Family.
Coming Up-Our Annual Church Picnic will be June hosted by the Drakes.
News from Camp Allen- May 13-15 will be a Birds and Blooms Conference and a Fishers of Women-a fishing retreat also on May 13-15. .To register or to learn more, call 936.825,7175 or visit CAMPALLEN.ORG
Attendance last Sunday was 46. The collection was $4,417.85
Lay Reader and Chalice Bearer this Sunday will be Jim and Carol Weathers. Ushers are also scheduled to be Jim and Carol, but they are working on it.
Michael's sermon hit home as it always does. He closed it by reminding us, "that God has bigger and better things in store for us than we can imagine on our own. Nothing less than, in the words of our reading from Revelation, 'new heaven, new earth, new Jerusalem, all things new.'. We are called as the apostles, to be faithful to the mission we have received and to remain open to God's acting in new ways, despite our desire to maintain a status quo. God is about making all things new-ourselves included." Thanks Michael.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
