First let me apologize for all the mistakes I (Sandy) made in the E-Star last week. It simply proved the old adage that haste makes waste. Please forgive.
A Word about the upcoming church picnic April 24-the Drakes have invited all of us to a picnic after church, Sunday, April 24. This is an annual event that is always a lot of fun. They will furnish the hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips. If you can please bring a salad or dessert to go along with it. But if it is not easy for you, please don't worry about it and just come. Bill and Elizabeth want everyone to enjoy being together. This would also be a good time to invite friends to come. Along with the festivities, a Special Band will play. More about that next week.
Thank you to Joyce Juhnke, Phyllis McNelly, and Mary Stevens for providing the lunch for the Alzheimer's Respite Group, Tuesday, April 12.
A Word from Sharon Hehr-"As Community Kitchen enters its 7th year, the volunteers from Epiphany have made it happen. From the vision of Ben and Jo Ann Thomas and their first kitchen in February, 2009 to last Wednesday April 5, 2016 when 146 people were served, The Church of the Epiphany has provided major support. Many people have volunteered, and many donations have been made. Thank you to all and especially Rufus and Sandy Arrington, Joe and Dolores Urias, George Clear. Bert and Phyllis McNelly, and Steve and Mary Stevens who are volunteering now. Community Kitchen feeds hearts as well as stomachs, and these helpers are making it happen."
Wednesday, April 13 and every Wednesday thereafter, the stitchers of the Needlework Guild will meet to work on the kneelers. One more person is needed, so if you have ever thought you might like to do needlepoint, this is a perfect time to learn
St. Anne's Guild will meet next Sunday, April 17.
Michael will be on vacation next Sunday, April 17. We welcome Fr. Ben Long who will be with us.
Vestry will meet Thursday, April 21 at 6:30.
A big thank you to Phyllis McNelly for covering the church office for DianneTuesday, April 26.
Attendance Sunday was 44. . Collection was $1224.
Please-we need pictures of our veterans for the Wall of Honor. .
Lay Reader and Chalice Bearer next Sunday will be John and Mary Erskine. Ushers will be Steve and Mary Stevens. Acolyte will be Addison Drake. Vestry Person of the Day will be David Leitch.
By the Way----THE CONGREGATION SOUNDED WONDERFUL WITH THE NEW MUSIC JUST BEFORE COMMUNION.....And a special thank you to our "Cantor".
Michael closed his sermon Sunday with these words, "It is hard to imagine a single human being who has not had the experience of going against her or his moral education or instincts at some point in life, and often as the only apparent option. But Christ's resurrection is our resurrection. Peter's failure and return from that failure to become the rock on which Christ built the church is part of the good news for us. Our own failures and shortcomings become the stuff of our empathy and caring for others
In this way, we are called, along with out brother Peter to feed Christ's sheep-that is to care for the people of Gods world". Thanks Michael. Have a restful vacation.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem.
Rufus and Sandy
