Ministries & Outreach

Ministries
One of the ways we share the love of Christ is through ministry to those members of our community who are in particular need. The following lay ministries equip and enable us to care for one another as we ourselves would like to be cared for.

Women’s Ministry
Epiphany has small groups that meet regularly for Bible study and prayer.  Call the church office for more information.

Prayer Teams
People will be trained to pray with individuals.

Small Groups
Groups meet in homes for Bible study and prayer.  Call the church office for more information.

Choir
We have a choir that performs each Sunday and on special occasions.  Anyone who enjoys music is invited to join.  Practice is Thursday, 7:00 PM from September to May then before services during the summer at 9:45 AM.  We also hope to organize a Prayer and Praise band for contemporary music. Contact our Choir Director Diane Fulenwider for more information.

Lay Readers
Lay readers, who are authorized by the bishop to read parts of the service in our church, serve on a rotating schedule.  The basic responsibilities are lector, leader of prayers of the people, chalice bearer, assist at baptisms, leader for the congregation to follow during the service, pinch-hit for absent acolytes, assist as the need arises during the service, and conduct Morning/Evening Prayer.  Jim Dyke coordinates our Lay Readers.

Casserole Ministry
The Casserole Ministers faithfully prepare and freeze meals to be taken to the home of a bereaved family or an ill member of Epiphany.

Epiphany Chariots
We have a list of devoted Epiphany members who rotate the responsibility of bringing members to church who have no other mode of transportation. Anyone who needs to avail himself of this ministry should call the church office to receive the names and contact information of our volunteer drivers, with whom they can make specific arrangements.  Contact our Rector.

Flower Guild
Each Sunday, beautiful arrangements of flowers grace the altar of our church. Following the 10:30 worship service, these arrangements are delivered to Epiphany members who are in the hospital or nursing home, or who have experienced a major life event in the previous week, such as the birth of a child, a bereavement, an illness or surgery, an important anniversary or a birthday.  If you would like to participate in this ministry, please call the church office.

Prayer Requests
Epiphany maintains a prayer list containing names of those in need of particular prayer.  Requests for prayer are submitted by completing a prayer request sheet (found in the church narthex) on Sunday or by calling the church office 512-756-2334 or by e-mail:  epiphanychurch@pgrb.com  It is expected that prior permission has been obtained from the person before the name is submitted for publication on our list.

Burnet Ministerial Alliance is an interdenominational community coalition for creative and collaborative problem solving regarding issues affecting Christian families and values in north Burnet County.

Greeters
Before each Sunday service, greeters stand outside the entrance doors to the church to welcome members and guests to Epiphany. They generally extend a hand of welcome to all.  They offer gifts and church information, answer questions, accompany guests to the Parish Hall for refreshments and introduce them to members.  Greeters also participate in follow-up with guests. Steve and Mary Stevens coordinate this effort.

Ushers
Before a worship service even begins, Epiphany’s Ushers offer a vital ministry to our members and guests. Often the first face one sees upon entering the narthex, our ushers greet each person and present him or her with a worship bulletin. They assist those who need help to find appropriate seating. During the service, ushers distribute the offering plates and ensure the smooth collection of offerings. Ushers also guide the flow of "traffic" during communion, guiding worshippers to the appropriate position, and informing the clergy if someone is unable to come forward and needs communion brought to him at his pew. Our Ushers also ensure that any special need a worshipper might have is promptly addressed. Mary and Steve Stevens coordinate our Usher Team.

Counseling
A Christian counselor comes to Epiphany specializing in the areas of loss/grief, life transitions, general adjustments to the changes to adults.  Contact Jan Halstead 512-470-9640.
