Sunday is our Covered Dish Birthday Lunch. All those with May birthdays will be honored and should not bring anything. It might be well if the rest of us brought a little extra as we will be celebrating lots of birthdays: Keynon Degeyter, MarkMilanovich, Joyce Juhnke, Joe Rose, Jan Tinker, Carol Guthrie, Roy Heuss, Elizabeth Drake, John Mather, Ralph Whitman, Sam Dorman, John Bergmann, Bentley Degeyter, Savannah Erskine, and J.J. Gonzales. Happy Birthday to all.
Sunday is also the date of the spring United Thank Offering. We all have much to be thankful for. It is a good thing to give an offering in thanksgiving for those blessings Envelopes will be available.
Thanks to Patty Murray, Bobbie Clear, and Sherry Musgrove for providing the Alzheimer's Lunch Tuesday, May 10.
Thanks also to Tom and Susan Mitchell who have volunteered to serve as ushers.
Because of the birthday celebration and because it is also Mother's Day, St.Anne's will meet the following Sunday May 15.
Choir Practice will be this Wednesday at 5:45 P.M. and on Sunday at 9:30 A.M.
On Thursday, May 12 at 3:30, there will be a meeting of Eucharistic Ministers (Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers), Eucharistic Visitors, (those who take communion to people who cannot get to church). Lectors (those who read the lessons), andCrucifers/Acolytes (those who serve at the altar) I realize I have been calling the Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers servers which is not correct. Sorry about that. Anyway as you know, May will be Addison Drake's last month to serve, and we cannot thank her enough for her service. So, if you have ever thought you might like to take on one or more of these duties, please come to the meeting. There is some tweaking that needs doing so if you are presently doing one of these things, please also come to the meeting.
A Word from Mary Jane Shanes-Our local food bank LaCare needs your help. 2-Hour shifts are available to work on Monday 2-6, Wednesday 10-2, and Friday 10-2. It is easy and anyone can help. We enjoy having fun and helping people at the same time. Please visit with Lottie at LaCare, 507 West Buchanan or call her at 512-756-4422. Thanks and May God Bless You.
Vestry will meet on May 12 at 6:30 P.M.
Attendance last Sunday was 46. . Collection was $4,471.
If you switch Eucharistic Minister or usher duties with someone, could you please let Dianne Ragland know so she can get the correct information in the bulletin. She needs to know by Thursday since she prints the bulletins late Thursday evening or early Fridaymorning. Thanks a bunch.
Eucharistic Ministers Sunday will be Rufus and Sandy Arrington. Ushers will be Bill Drake and Mark Milanovich. Crucifer/Acolyte will be Addison Drake. Vestry Person of the Day will be Joe Urias.
Michael's sermon as usual struck home. He closed it by saying "Maybe that's why I'm particularly struck by this wording: 'Do not let your hearts be troubled.' Don't let this fear live in your heart and trouble it. Look at it. Acknowledge it. And know that God is in charge. Nothing, not even your physical death, when that time comes, can separate you from God's unfailing compassion and love.
That, I believe is the point of this season of Easter and its focus on the Resurrection, we need not fear the loss of anything, present or imagined future, even our life, because God is bigger than all of it, and we are in God's constant and eternal care." Thanks Michael.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
