This Wednesday there will be a departure from the study of the Catechism. John Erskine will be talking about his experiences in the Holy Land. He has just returned from the trip where among other things, he worked in the vineyards. It promises to be most interesting.
Remember that Daylight Savings time starts next Sunday. Set your clocks up an hour so you won't miss church.
Sunday will be our first Celebration Sunday Potluck. We will honor all those with March birthdays. Mae and Morgan Wright will provide a brisket and a birthday cake, and we will bring a pot of beans. If your birthday is not in March, please bring whatever you wish to go along with that. If your birthday is in March, don't bring anything.
After the Celebration lunch, there will be a meeting of St. Anne's. in the youth center. Please try to attend.
Lue Mather's internment of ashes will be March 15 at 10:00 at the Mt. Horab, Mather Family cemetery. Afterwards everyone who cane will gather at the Hi Way Café Mexican restaurant just north of Highway 29 on 183 for lunch. The family has gone home but will be back for the internment. Right now the house is pretty big and lonely, and John would appreciate cards and visits.
Please keep the Gibbs family in your prayers as well as all who loved Helen. She was quite a lady.
We hope you have let Diane know of any additions, corrections, and deletions to the church directory, She wants to mail it by March 15. If you haven't, please let her knownow.
Please give prayerful consideration to giving to the new kneelers. Dolores and others have been working hard on them; but they can't happen without money.
This is a little awkward, but we hope you take every opportunity to thank Elizabeth for all the work she does with the choir. The choir members are faithful and work hard, but it could never happen without her.
Last Sunday, the attendance was 51. The collection was $3,527.
Servers this coming Sunday will be Rufus and Sandy Arrington. Ushers will be Steve and Mary Stevens. Vestry Person of the Day will be Morgan Wright.
We are sorry if you weren't in church Sunday to hear Michael's sermon. Just when you think you have heard all there is to hear about the story of the Prodigal Son, Michael thinks of something else. He closed his sermon with these words, "We thank God for being so rash with forgiveness, so lavish with mercy, so generous with compassion. And we pray that, having received all that in the wake of our bad choices and impulsive and compulsive actions, we might bear that grace and understanding to others so desperately in need of it." That is exactly what happened in our family, and we are very grateful.
We send Michael's sermon to several members. If you would like to receive it, we would be most happy to send it to you too.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
