Alleluia, Christ is risen! Holy Week culminating with Easter Sunday was truly full of wonder at Epiphany. It was as if we were there with Jesus on Maundy Thursday as He celebrated the Passover with his disciples and with Him as He suffered Good Friday. Then at the Easter Vigil, we came to the empty tomb. Finally, there was the triumph of Easter Sunday as we celebrated the Resurrection complete with a trumpet played by Megan Nail and the magnificent violin of Kathryn Drake
It was a joy to see the church so full on Easter Sunday with many children, both grandchildren of the folks of Epiphany and many visitors. The children had an Easter Egg Hunt after the service and a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny herself.
A great thank you to all of you who did extra duty to make it so special, the choir, the altar guild, the people who provided the reception after the Easter Vigil; and especially Michael who put so much into it to make it special for us. We are truly blest.
The choir will be taking a vacation this Sunday. Tim Erskine will be with us to do the music. Thanks Tim.
Now begins the 50 day celebration of the resurrection which will end with Pentecost. During this season we will use the white altar hangings. We will go back to using Rite II during this season, and we will sing the Kneeling Hymn at communion. One change that will begin April 10 is that when the choir goes up from communion, Elizabeth, as Cantor, will sing the first part of an anthem. Then the choir and the congregation will repeat it. She will then sing the second part, then the choir and congregation will respond. We did this on Easter Sunday, and it was beautiful.
Since Lent is over, we will go back to using altar flowers. So far, no one has signed up for either April or May. Please consider this.
St. Anne's will meet April 10th after church.
Michael will be on vacation April 17 th. Father Ben Long will be with us.
Dianne Ragland will be out of the office Tuesday, April 26 so she can be with John for his procedure. Can someone cover the office for her?
This Saturday will be the Burnet Garden and Plant Show at the Civic Center.
Tomorrow will be the Burnet Middle School Plant Sale. This is a way to get some great plants and support the kids too.
Daughters of the King will meet this Sunday after church.
Please pick up your Easter Lillies.
Instead of the Birthday Celebration Potluck, we will celebrate birthdays at the annual Church Picnic hosted by the Drakes on April 24. Those having birthdays in April will be recognized and honored..
Servers this week will be Rufus and Sandy Arrington. Ushers will be Bert and Phyllis McNelly. Vestry Person of the Day was to have been Elizabeth Drake, but she will not be here. As of this writing, we don't know who will be. Maybe we could all help out.
Attendance last Sunday was 88.....Collection ?
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
