A great big thank you to Bill, Elizabeth, Addison, and Jim Weathers for all they did to make the picnic after church last Sunday so very special. The decorations were beautiful and the hamburgers and hot dogs terrific. Thanks to all of you who brought those great salads and other sides to go with them. The best part, however, was watching everyone visiting and enjoying themselves. It was good to see John Mather, his brother-in-law Bob Schwab, and Tricia, Lue's long time care giver there.
It was also Birthday Celebration Sunday. Among the honorees was June Adams. June and Money's daughter, Lynn, was there celebrating with her.
Finally it was Rogation Sunday-the day set aside to ask God's blessing on our gardens. It was very meaningful to us as we are really trying hard with our garden this year as we know others are too. Even if we all didn't bring our soil and water, we know they were blest. Bob Schwab, an avid gardener especially enjoyed that short service.
Then we sent Michael off on a well-deserved vacation. Fr. Ben Long will be our supply priest the next two weeks.
The Diolog is the Diocesan Publication full of news about what is happening in the Diocese of Texas. Please let Dianne Ragland know if you are receiving it or if you want to receive it. She is updating her list.
It was good to have Maria and Jaxon Gonzales in church Sunday. J.J., Maria, Jaxon, and Grady have a new address. Please make note of it in your directory. Their new address is 412 Summit Ridge Rd, Burnet 78611. Maria's cell phone is (830) 613-8557, J.J.'s cell is (830) 613-5710.
As of this writing, Raymond Whitman is in stable condition after having suffering a set back and being taken to Seton Main in Austin. Please keep him, Ralph, and Patty who has been so faithful in your prayers.
I (Sandy) talked to Jo Lipscombe yesterday. She sends her love to everyone and thanks everyone for the cards and letters. She misses everyone, but most of all she misses being able to be at church. Please keep her in your prayers too as the doctors are trying to sort out something that will help her. A big thank you to Dianne Ragland who every week sends her a packet with a blown-up version of the pew sheet, Michael's sermon, and the E-Star. It keeps her connected to Epiphany which means so much to her.
Remember, there will be no Men's Breakfast or St. Anne's meetings this summer. However, the Needlework Guild will continue to meet as will Daughters of the King. Daughters will meet June 26 this month.
The congregation sounded so good singing the offertory. Thanks for your efforts.
Attendance last Sunday was 37. Collection was $1759.
Lector Sunday will be David Leitch. The Eucharistic Minister was to have been Rachel Bryson, but she is out of town. Ushers will be Jim and Carol Weathers. Vestry Person of the Day will be Morgan Wright.
Michael's sermon last Sunday was a strong one. He reminded us of what Jesus said in Matthew: " God 'makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.' Michael also said," I believe that bad things happen to good people, and vice-versa and, sometimes, that bad things happen to people who do bad things. I also believe that we suffer, and sometimes others suffer, as a consequence of our sins in many ways, including but not limited to a tortured conscience." Thanks Michael.
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every diem,
Rufus and Sandy
