We will begin with some words from the end of Michael's sermon: "Our vestry met in an all-day retreat yesterday, discussing the life and health and hopes and mission of our parish church. It was an inspiring day. Even though we didn't talk overtly about spiritual gifts, using the particular term, in a real sense that's all we talked about. I am grateful to have such a fine group of leaders, and I know you must feel the same. We considered how we might be who and what God calls us to be here, in Burnet, Texas 2016. The ministry is ours--all of us, not just the clergy, not just the vestry, but all of us who make up the Church of the Epiphany. And you can count on being called on---at least invited--to participate in some aspect of the ministry. I know that most of you already are participating, and we do not want anyone to be overburdened, but we do believe that God is calling us to pull together to be a beacon of God's love and compassion and hope in this place, at this time."
