Great News-the leak in the roof over the narthex and bell tower has been repaired. Now-we can go on to the situation with the doors.
Pastor Ricky Leaphart will be going to M.D. Anderson in Houston where the doctors think they may be able to help his lung cancer. Please continue to keep him, his wife Cricket, and his family, and the congregation of First Lutheran Church in your prayers.
Please put August 14 on your calendar. That is the date of the Covered Dish Lunch and Birthday Celebration. Those celebrating birthdays in August are: Merle Juhnke, Melinda Lovelace, Sean Ferrell, Emily Clinton, Chrystal Martinez, Pam Schoen, Jaxon Gonzales, Brandy Knonpka, Braydon Konopka, Tyler Boswell, Zenobia Tolliver, Doug Brunson, Maureen Curran, Camrynn Guthrie, Parker Martinez, Ken Tolliver, Paul Dorman, Bert McNelly, Ellie Burks, and Bill Drake. Happy Birthday to all, and we hope to see you on the 14th.
Thank you to Jo Lipscombe, Sandy Arrington, and Phyllis McNelly for providing lunch for the Alzheimer's Respite Group on August 9.
Attendance Sunday was 32 and Collection was $ 1640 .
This coming Sunday the Eucharistic Minster will be Carol Weathers and Lector will be Jim Weathers. Ushers are Bobbie and George Clear. VP of the Day is Phyllis McNelly.
From Michael's Sermon: "It would seem that clothing ourselves with this new self not only enables us to be rid of those bad habits of thought, speech and action, but also dissolves the barriers among/between us. Christ is all in all might mean that this changed heart is everything. By putting ourselves in God's care in this way of allowing our heart to be changed also allows us to part company with Ecclesiastes' initial cry of 'all is futile!"
It becomes instead, "all is Christ's, including my very self."
Have a blessed week,
Carpe every Diem,
Rufus and Sandy
